In Louisiana, there seems to always be a reason to celebrate. Since Louisiana-"ans" love festivals, of course they devoted an entire weekend to the celebration of crawfish. My dad and stepmom came from Texas for the weekend and attended the Mudbug Madness festival with us.
The festival was completely devoted to the eating of the mudbugs, bayou music, and of course beer to wash down the spicy crustaceans.
My dad and Josh enjoyed the cajun seasoned bugs. (Yuck!) I preferred to be a spectator.
We also walked around and checked out the different vendors.
Yes, these are real baby crawfish earrings....ick.
Before we left Mudbug Madness we watched the men's crawfish eating contest. The winner ate 15.5 pounds of crawfish in 15 minutes!
This weekend we also went and saw Men In Black III with my dad and Tricia.
We got to see the movie in 3D! It was a really entertaining movie and even better in 3D.
The four of us also went to Harrah's Casino to try our luck on the slot machines.
We all had fun playing the penny and quarter slots. My Dad and Josh came out a little bit ahead, but none of us won "big".
Since we had attended the Mudbug festival, played the slots, their Louisiana filled vacation was almost complete, minus the gators. So we headed back to Gators and Friends Park to see our favorite reptiles. Just in the few months that have passed since we had been there, the gators had moved from the shore to the algae filled water to escape from the hot sun.
We also fed the animals at the petting zoo (:
This time, the kangaroos were much more active and let us feed and pet them. They were so cute!
Their big ears and feet reminded me of our Leyla-ha!
It was a great Louisiana weekend! Thanks for coming and visiting Dad and Tricia!
