Alligators, Oh My!

Ever since we went to the Alligator Park and after watching Swamp People,  Josh has been dying to see an alligator in the wild. But, we weren't expecting to see one on one of our usual weekday walks on the base jogging trail near our home....
It was just a "baby" but it was still pretty scary! And to think, I had been excited about the turtle we had seen on the beginning of our walk-ha!

This past weekend despite the baby alligator scare, we decided to go fishing on base. We didn't have any luck catching any fish, but sure enough we ran into a gator. Only this time, he wasn't so tiny. Despite all rationale and common sense, Josh and I eagerly approached the waters edge and threw the gator some marsh mellows. Yes, I said marsh mellows-ha. We had heard from a few of our friends that the gators had a sweet tooth, I guess it's the Louisiana version of feeding ducks.

The scariest part of it all was how unafraid the gator was of humans! Luckily, Leyla didn't tag alone, so she couldn't be a midday snack for the scaly creature.

Even though we didn't get any catches, we enjoyed spending the peaceful day in the sun taking in the beautiful green scenery.

In addition to our alligator adventures this past week, Josh also braved the girl filled theater and took me to see the Lucky One based off the book by Nicholas Sparks.

One of my favorite cute habits about Josh, is his ability to find a crane machine anywhere whether it be Wal-Mart, the BX, or the movie theater (:

And he always seems to win, which Leyla loves because she gets all of his treasures (:
