Carnies, Funnel Cakes, and Airplanes

The Holiday in Dixie spring carnival was in downtown Shreveport this weekend.

After our usual dinner date, Josh and I went and rode the ferris wheel. We were the only ones on the ferris wheel, so we kept going around and around-ha.

View from on top of the ferris wheel.

After riding a few other rides, we played a lot of games and Josh won me a dolphin, a pony, and a turtle stuffed animal. (: A girl never gets too old for stuffed animals, at least not this girl anyway.

On Sunday, we fought the crowds and went to the Barksdale Air Show here on base. It was fun to get to walk around on the usually forbidden flight line and watch all the airplanes do tricks.

Of course I had to take a picture with my favorite plane, the B-52.

We got to walk inside a C-5, which is used to transport tanks, helicopters, etc. It was pretty cool to see the inside!

Josh was happy to see some muscle cars there too (:

We especially enjoyed watching the black diamonds do formations in the air, like synchronized swimmers on a much more intense level.

Despite all the people, we were able to stand close enough to wave to the pilots as they taxied out to the runway.
We ended the day with a funnel cake to go (:

Leyla had a great weekend too...
She got a new bone that she can't chew, but likes to carry around and show off (:

And we found a new walking trail that she loves to pick up pine cones, sticks, and other treasures to bring home..

The three of us had a great busy weekend! (:
